Dahi KI Khadi with plain rice is a delicious Indian recipe served as a curry.

Ingredients:

  • Ingredients for Kadi
    • 2 cups Yogurt
    • 1 Onion-chopped
    • 4-6 Green chilies
    • 1/4 tbsp Turmeric powder
    • 1 tbsp Ginger paste & Garlic paste
    • Salt to taste
    • 3 tbsp Gram Flour(Besan)
    • 5-6 Curry leaves
    • 2 - 4 Garlic Cloves
  • For seasoning (Baghar)
    • 4 tbsp Oil
    • 1 tbsp Cumin seeds (Zeera)
    • 1 tbsp Black mustard seeds (Rai)
    • 2-4 Garlic Cloves
    • 2 Dried Red chillies
    • Few Curry leaves
  • Ingredients for Pakoda(Fritters)
    • 1 cup Gram Flour(Besan)
    • 1 tbsp Red Chili powder
    • 1/4 tbsp Turmeric powder
    • 1/2 tbsp Baking Soda
    • 1 tbsp Ginger paste & Garlic paste
    • Coriander leaves-finely chopped
    • Mint leaves-finely chopped
    • 1/2 tsp Coriander powder-optional
    • Salt to taste
    • Oil for frying

Method:

  • Make Pakodi(Fritters):
    • In a bowl add gram flour, salt,ginger and garlic paste, red chili powder,turmeric powder,coriander powder and baking soda. Mix well and make a smooth paste by adding water gradually.
    • Heat oil in a frying pan for frying pakodas. Use your hands or spoon to pick a small amount of pakoda mixture and drop it in hot oil.
    • Fry them on medium flame until they turn golden brown in color from all sides. Take them out once they are ready and switch off the stove. You can keep them on tissue paper to drain excess oil.
    • Keep them aside.
  • Make Kadi:
    • In a large bowl add the yoghurt; beat it with the spoon or a whisk to make it smooth.
    • Then in a small cup add water mix gram flour without lumps.Pour over into the yoghurt mix it well without lumps
    • Add ginger & garlic paste, turmeric powder, salt, and mix it well.
    • In a large cooking vessel pour yoghurt mixture over a tea net to trap all of the loose mixture.
    • Then add sliced onion, green chillies,curry leaves and garlic cloves and leave it on for low heat till its thick paste.
    • Stir often to prevent burning, if required, add little water/gram from time to time prevent from burning.
    • Once cooked drop the pakodas into it.
    • Now it’s time to add the final punch by adding the tadka.You need to add this just before serving.
    • Heat oil in a small frying pan on medium flame. Once it is hot (in approx 30 seconds), add cumin seeds, black mustard seeds, garlic cloves, dried red chlilies and then switch off the stove.
    • Immediately add this tadka to your khadi and mix well.
    • Your delicious Khadi Pakoda is ready to enjoy with Rice or with Naan/Chapati/Paratha.
