Here is the super simple upma recipe that you can have for breakfast. It’s very delicious and easy to make.

  • 1 tbsp Channa dal
  • 2 tbsp Peanuts
  • 1 Onion small -chopped
  • 1 Tomato -chopped(optinal)
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 8 Curry leaves
  • 2 Green chillies-sliced
  • Hing -a pinch
  • 1 Ginger slice-chopped or 1 tsp Ginger and Garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp Oil or Butter
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 cup Sooji/Semolina/Upma Rava
  • 2 cups Water
  • In a pan add oil,add mustard seeds,cumin seeds once they splutter add channa dal ,peanuts and saute till they are cooked.
  • Now add chopped ginger,onions,chillies, curry leaves, hing,salt,turmeric powder and saute them.Next add water and bring it to boil.
  • Next add upma rawa/semolina/sooji slowly stirring continously so to avoid lumps and mix well.When all the moisture is absorbed cover for 5 minutes and serve hot with chutney or pickle.
