Tomato Pulao is a tasty tangy rice dish that is just delicious and taste great when paired with raita.
Ingredients:- 2cups basmati rice
- 3cups Water
- 1 Onion chopped
- 2 tomatoes chopped with the peel on
- 1/2cup tomato paste
- 1tbsp yoghurt
- 1/2tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp Coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp Shahzeera
- 1/2 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 2 sticks of Cinnamon
- 2 Cloves
- 2 Cardamons
- Salt to taste
- Coriander-finely chopped
- 2tbsp ghee
- 2tbsp oil
- Wash and soak the rice for half an hour.
- Take a pan and add the oil and ghee .Then add the spices;shahzeera,cinnamon sticks,cloves,cardamons and pepper.
- Once they splutter in the oil,add chopped onions and fry them till they are translucent.Then add turmeric and coriander powder.
- Then add ginger-garlic paste,chopped tomato,tomato paste and yoghurt.
- Cook until the mixture thickens and add water and salt.As soon as the water boils,add rice by draining the soaked water.
- Sprinkle a few coriander leaves and let it cook on medium flame by stiring now and then.
- When you find very little water left,reduce the heat and cook with lid on.
- Once the rice is cooked.Serve hot.
