Chicken-Chole – what a nice combination.I stopped eavesdropping and started thinking of the recipe and this is how I made it.

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup Chickpeas (Chole) – soaked in water overnight
  • Chicken breast – cleaned, cut in cubes
  • 1 medium Onion – grind to paste
  • 1 medium Tomato – grind to paste
  • 1/2 tbsp Cumin seeds
  • 2 whole Black peppers and Cloves
  • 1 Cinnamon stick
  • 2 Cardamoms
  • 1 tbsp Red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp Coriander powder(Dhaniya powder)
  • 1 tbsp Ginger and garlic paste
  • a pinch of Turmeric powder
  • Salt per taste
  • 1 tbsp Lime juice
  • Oil.
  • 1/2 cup Warm Water
Method:
  • First boil the soaked chickpeas or can use canned chickpeas.
  • Heat oil in a big wok or crockpot.Add in cumin seeds, black peppers, cloves, cinnamon stick, and cardamom.Let it cook for about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add in onion paste and cook till golden brown.
  • Add in tomato paste and cook till oil separates.
  • Next add in red chili powder,turmeric dhaniya powder, salt, lime juice.Cook till oil separates.
  • Now add in cubed chicken and boiled chickpeas.Let it cook till oil separates and chicken is fully cooked.
  • You may add warm water to get the consistency of a gravy.
  • Serve hot with roti or plain rice.
