A mild mutton curry, with a fragrant tomato gravy.

  • 1/2 kg Mutton
  • 1 Onion -finely chopped
  • 2 Tomatoes-finely chopped
  • 1tbsp Ginger-Garlic paste
  • 1tbsp Red chilli powder
  • 1/4tbsp Turmeric powder
  • 2 Green chillies
  • 1tbsp lemon juice-optional
  • Salt to taste
  • 4tbsp oil
  • Coriander leaves-finely chopped
  • Mint leaves-finely chopped
  • Wash and marinate the mutton with ginger-garlic paste,salt,red chilli powder,turmeric powder and keep aside.
  • Take a heavy bottomed pan,add oil at medium heat and add onion;fry till they are slightly golden in color.
  • Add the marinated mutton and mix well and let it cook for few minutes.
  • Now add the chopped tomatoes and green chillies and let it cook till it gets smooth and mushy.
  • Now add water and cook until the mutton is tender.
  • Then leave it on for low heat till the thin layer of oil appears on the bottom surface and cover the pan and leave till the gravy is thick.
  • Add coriander and mint leaves.
  • Remove from heat and serve with parathas and plain rice.
